The other day, at an event, I heard Hon’ble Chief Minister speak about Veer Shaheed Madho Singh, one of the greatest freedom fighters of India. Madho Singh was probably the greatest story of sacrifice in the course of India’s freedom struggle. The Chief Minister rightly said that revering and recognising these great sons of Odia soil would be a true reflection of Odia Asmita.
Researching on this great freedom fighter of our land, we discovered that he and all the male members of his family, including his son-in-law, four sons and grandson fought the British, and, were subjected to the most inhuman torture and put to death.
This story of a great unsung son of the soil of Odisha who gave the supreme sacrifice needs to be told and retold in order to inspire understanding of the immense sacrifices that lie at the heart of the freedom of our nation.
This Independence Day, Sukanya Rath has put together this story on the life of Veer Shaheed Madho Singh for our students. It is the beginning of a series of stories on unsung heroes of our state, and, we believe that retelling these stories would foster the spirit of nationalism and Odia pride in our children.

As the countdown to the Trinity’s day out begins, our children learn about Odisha’s biggest festival of faith and culture – Rath Yatra.
At The DN Wisdom Tree Global School, a school as unique as your child, we endeavour to ensure that our young people get to know the essence of our cultural legacy and inimitable heritage. Rath Yatra is one of the most important events on the Wisdom calendar, and we have our very own little festival happening in the classrooms, across grades as well as the key outdoor event itself, on campus.
Join us, as we join millions, in chorus – Jai Jagannath!

World Heritage Day, also known as the International Day for Monuments and Sites, is dedicated to raising awareness about the incredible cultural and natural treasures of the world and the importance of protecting them for future generations. This special day is dedicated to honouring and safeguarding our cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible.
At The DN Wisdom Tree Global School, a school as unique as your child, we lay special emphasis on learning and awareness about days of national and global importance. In keeping with this practice, we marked World Heritage Day by introducing our little people to the extraordinary handicrafts heritage of Odisha. Middle school students were introduced to the legendary Emperor Kharavela and the caves of Khandagiri-Udayagiri that are of such immense historical and cultural significance.
